Where in the world is... ELH?!

I feel so bad for neglecting my poor little blog these past few weeks. I was on such a roll! But with exams, a whole long list of "lasts", cleaning 4 years of miscellaneous "treasures" out of my apartment and loving on my best buddies, there has just been no time for blogging (or eating, sleeping, or making money!). Rest assured that ideas have been racking up in my mind and SO many exciting events have happened while I've been away (Hint: NYC, Formal, a super fun horse race... ETC!). Bear with me and my sweet little bloggy as I live up these last few DAYS!

"All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them"- Walt Disney

My next chapter finally has a title:

Disney Fairytale Weddings Marketing and Social Media Intern!

I got the call this morning and absolutely couldn't believe it! They said that I was chosen out of hundreds of people-- dreams really do come true :) (I've been on a Disney kick all day!)

Though I'm a little nervous and a little scared to go so far away all alone, I know that in the end it will be so worth it! It's just another adventure out there waiting for me!

LET'S DO THIS!

I live for entertainment, my darling

I always get so nervous when my favorite books are turned into movies. It's one of those things that makes me clench my teeth and peep through my fingers as they're covering my eyes. But sometimes Hollywood gets it right (not to mention those times when the movie is better than the book! Gasp, did she just go there? Oh, yes, I did).

Now one thing that's not okay is if a certain idiot boy takes you on a date to see the last Harry Potter movie and complains when I bring up the book saying "I hate when books are based on movies". Um. Hokay. Byebye.

Here are a few of my faves coming up soon!

Water for Elephants

Something Borrowed

The Help

and then some of my all time faves:

The Notebook

The Secret Life of Bees

He's Just Not That Into You

Let's Run Away Forever, Let's Spend Some Time Together

We'll never feel bad anymoreeeeee- Oh Weezer, your peppy tunes keep me afloat :)

So, after much inspiration from my friends and of course great advice from Miss Christine at Bun and Borough, I have strapped on the old running shoes. I typically am one to run only if I am being chased, but for some reason I have been really inspired recently! Here are some things keeping me motivated:

1. Accountability. A lot of my friends and I have been keeping track of each others fitness and that has been working so well for me. Though I can't necessarily run or work out with anyone else, seeing "WWJD (What Would Jillian Michaels Do?)" right on the fridge really keeps things in perspective.

2. A rockin' soundtrack. Fun, fast paced grooves keep me wanting to move and also help with my timing and pacing. I am trying to roughly follow the Couch to 5K program, and each song is around 2 minutes-- purrrrfect. Plus, who can sit still when you hear this: We are young. Heartache to heartache, we stand. No promises, no demands. LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD!". Uhh, didn't think so.

3. Spectators. Usually, beeping from a car is not a positive thing in my book. However, when I'm in the zone, hear a honk and look up to be greeted with a big smile and a thumbs up, it makes my swagger that much more fierce.

4. Nature. The weather has been exceptional recently (besides the ridiculous amount of pollen...!) and it means so much to me to get to hang out outside and get my run on. I am also appreciating my gorgeous city and campus as much as I can before I head out! Fresh air does a multitude of things for the ol' body and, like, how cute is it when you see a bunny, a deer or a sweet little bird chillin' by your path? I felt like freaking Cinderella!

5. Timing is everything. In these last 2 weeks of school, I am jam packing school work, hanging with friends and tying up loose ends. It's HARD to make time for exercise, especially a one hour class where you have to get yourself together at a specific time and just... ack. A run can be short, long, in the morning, in the evening, and it can also get me from point A to point B!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, y'all!

I woke up a little bit sad this morning because this is the first Easter Sunday that I won't be spending with my family. It's our last weekend at school before exams and the timing just didn't quite work out.

However, I am so looking forward to beginning a few new traditions today! My roommate and I are going to see Water for Elephants as our special Easter treat. Then, we're going to come back and whip up some cute cupcakes, stuffing and my Grandma's potato cassarole and head over to a big "family" dinner with all our best friends.

Though it's hard to be away from my rents and my sweet little pup today, I am so excited to make some new holiday memories with my bffs :)

Hey, it's ok!

When my brother and I were little, we were very confident in ourselves. I don't know if we picked it up from Sesame Street or from something my parents would say, but when we did something wrong, we would always say "but thas ok!" Ex: "I broke a lamp.. But thas ok!" Like we were letting ourselves off the hook. Too funny.

One of my favorite parts of Glamour magazine is the section called "Hey! It's ok!" It basically outlines a few things people might do on the sly and says "Ya know what, don't be embarrassed! You're not alone and what you're doing is coool with the Universe". Not only is this SUCH a fun and funny section, but we could all be a little easier on ourselves. So, without further ado, I bring you a new weekly feature, Hey! It's Ok! (all credit goes to Glamour, I'm just a loyal fan!)

It's ok to eat a cupcake for breakfast. They are cute and tasty and that's really all I have to say on the topic.

It's ok to ditch your iPod for the day and catch snippits of other people's conversations on your daily bus ride. (why don't you listen to nature and your own mind, while you're at it?!)

It's ok to convince yourself that you are getting some of your daily protein from eating a Reese's egg.

It's ok to peek at the end of your book to see if you can figure out who's fallen in love by the last chapter and if they live happily ever after.

It's ok to talk with your roommates in a completely made-up accent. or a completely made up language altogether, if we're going there.

It's ok to pack a bag and grab a buddy (or alone!) and run off for the night on an impromptu roadtrip.

Remember to be easy on yourself this week. You're your own best friend and believe me, you haven't let you down yet!

Life is like a box of crayons

“Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's ok though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like Periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though, in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation.. so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type.. I'm like, "Hey girl, Magenta!" and she's like, "Oh, you mean Purple!" and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, "No - I want Magenta!”
